Makayla's 10th birthday

Our little sweet pea....
Maki Loo as we like to call her...
turned 10 years old last week.

10 YEARS OLD

Hard to believe.

Starting at the top- left to right:
1. We taped garbage bags to her door and filled it in with balloons so when she woke up on her 10th birthday she would be showered with love :) . She loved it....so much in fact that the only thing she could say was, "Oh my gosh!"

2. Every birthday, the birthday person typically gets a homemade waffle or pancake with whipped cream, sprinkles and a candle to start their special day off with. But this birthday we decided to get donuts!

3. As part of her birthday present (just like we did with Malia on her 10th), we re-did Makayla's room to a more "tween" room. We arranged furniture, took stuff out, got new bedding, I made the curtains and some other fun things (I'll take some better photos of it and blog about it soon!....it's so darling!!)

4-6. Makayla insisted we take her out of school and spoil her with a lunch date. She chose Red Robin. Ian had flown in the night before so he could make sure to celebrate her special day!!

7. She wanted a home cooked dinner for her birthday...she picked out a recipe, a homemade mac & cheese dish, but we talked her into going out to Anthony's with her Grandma & Nana.
That room makeover took ALL DAY LONG to do & we were a little spent!!

8. My mom found the greatest gift idea on Pinterest.....a bunch of ones tape together and put in a box (or in my mom's case...because she's JUST like me....a mason jar). It was seriously THE BEST GIFT EVER!! And since my darling little niece's birthday is the very next day, my mom made her one too and my niece blurted out "Now I'm rich!!!".

9. Makayla got a new winter coat. In pink of course :)

And my heart is a bunch of mixed emotions....
crazy happy....
confused how 10 years flew by without my permission...
excited to see who this little angel will become
(we are pretty sure she could be the President one day)....

And just a fun little side note about her:
She informed me the other day that she's saving all her money (she's a saver unlike her little brother) so that when she's an adult she can afford to have a giant house...a hotel really...because she's going to have 7 children and drive a EuroVan.

Happiest birthday Makayla Shea.....
we are so thankful God has given us & blessed us with one of the greatest gifts....
you.
